Give Your Heart to God, Not to the World

The central spiritual imperative is to surrender one’s heart entirely to Allah, rather than allowing it to be captivated by the transient allurements of the material world. When the heart is attached to worldly desires, it becomes distant from divine remembrance and vulnerable to the distractions of creation.

True devotion requires a conscious detachment from temporal gains, recognising that the world is but a fleeting passage, while the pleasure of the Creator is the ultimate objective of existence.

This detachment is not merely a physical withdrawal but a profound internal reorientation. As Imam Sajjad (AS) beautifully articulates in the Sahifa Sajjadiyyah: “O God, he whom You befriend will not be injured by the abandonment of the abandoners.

” This supplication underscores that when one’s heart is firmly anchored in divine friendship, the loss of worldly support or the rejection of people holds no power to cause spiritual harm.
