# The Gift

Leo, a sixteen-year-old Sydney surfer, slammed his locker shut, ignoring his mum’s text. He felt suffocated by her constant care.

That evening, he found an old photo in his dad’s study: his mum, exhausted and pale, holding a newborn Leo in the hospital.

He remembered the years of sleepless nights, the endless patience, and the sacrifices she made silently.

He opened the Quran to Surah Luqman. The words hit him hard: “His mother carried him, increasing her in weakness upon weakness.”

Leo felt a surge of gratitude. He wasn’t just a son; he was a responsibility.

He picked up his phone, his thumb hovering over the screen. He typed a simple, heartfelt message.

“Thank you, Mum. For everything. I love you.”

His heart felt lighter, anchored by a profound sense of peace and duty.
