# The Keeper of the Garden

Arthur sat on the bench outside his modest terraced house in North London, the chill of an October evening biting at his knuckles. For decades, he had worked, saved, and built a life, yet a quiet restlessness had grown within him in his later years.

He watched the rain fall on the community garden he tended with such devotion. Every seed was planted with care, every weed pulled with patience. It was not merely a hobby; it was his form of prayer.

His granddaughter, Sarah, joined him, wrapping her hijab tighter against the damp air. She noticed his furrowed brow and the way his hands trembled slightly over the soil.

"Grandfather," she asked gently, "why do you worry so much? The garden grows regardless of our anxiety."

Arthur looked at her, his eyes reflecting a lifetime of contemplation. He spoke of the Creator’s immense generosity, how God prepared sustenance and climate before they even existed. "He created for us hearing, eyesight, and hearts," he murmured. "Little do we thank."

He explained that God asks only for the purity of the heart in return for these countless gifts. To resist this divine order is not a rebellion against a distant king, but a war against one’s own peace.

Sarah listened, the truth of his words settling like dew on the leaves. In that stillness, Arthur felt the weight of years lift, replaced by the lightness of gratitude.
