# Divine Bounty and the Folly of Disobedience

Allāh prepared our sustenance and environment long before our arrival, crafting a balanced diet suitable for our weak stomachs and providing climes that nurture our existence. As Imam ‘Alī (AS) reminds us in Nahj al-Balagha, “He has not created you for nought and has not left you free.” Every seen and unseen favour is a testament to His instinctive, natural love for His creatures, serving as a patron who anticipates our needs with perfect wisdom.

After piling up these immense gifts, the Creator asks only that we keep our hearts pure for His occupation, ensuring we benefit from His divine presence. Yet, despite these clear warnings and cautions, we often fail to obey Him or heed His words. This neglect represents a gross transgression, for we cannot wage war against the One whose power encompasses all. Any harm we cause affects only ourselves, as His Kingdom remains untouched and our exclusion from His reign is impossible.

## Scripture

> الْحَمْدُ للهِ الدَّالِّ عَلَى وُجُودِهِ بِخَلْقِهِ، وَبِمُحْدَثِ خَلْقِهِ عَلَى أَزَلِيَّته، وَبِاشْتِبَاهِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْ لاَ شَبَهَ لَهُ. لاَ تَسْتَلِمُهُ الْمَشَاعِرُ، وَلاَ تَحْجُبُهُ السَّوَاتِرُ، لاِفْتِرَاِق الصَّانِعِ وَالْمَصْنُوعِ، وَالْحَادِّ وَالْـمَحْدُودِ، وَالرَّبِّ وَالْمَرْبُوبِ.

> Praise be to Allāh who is proof of His existence through His creation, of His being external through the newness of His creation, and through their mutual similarities of the fact that nothing is similar to Him. Senses cannot touch Him and curtains cannot veil Him, because of the difference between the Maker and the made, the Limiter and the limited and the Sustainer and the sustained.
