Beginning Every Moment in the Name of the Most Merciful
The opening words of the Holy Quran teach us a profound truth: every worthy endeavour begins with God. "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" is not merely a phrase we recite — it is a declaration that we place our entire existence under Divine care.
Imam Ali (AS) beautifully expressed that the whole of the Quran is contained in Surah Al-Fatihah, and its essence lies in the Bismillah. When we utter these sacred words before every action, we acknowledge that all strength, guidance, and success flow from Allah alone.
His mercy encompasses everything — Al-Rahman speaks of the boundless mercy showered upon all creation, while Al-Rahim speaks of the special, everlasting mercy reserved for the faithful. Let us not reduce the Bismillah to mere habit.
Instead, let it be a conscious turning of the heart towards our Creator, a moment of humility and trust.
— Surah Al-Fatihah (1:1)
