This session's argument is uncomfortable: being right is not enough. Clarification that arrives at the wrong moment can be almost worthless. After Imam Husayn's martyrdom, peace be upon him, a movement of penitents rose in grief and resolve to avenge him — sincere, numerous, too late. The moment of decisive support had already passed, and their uprising became a footnote to a tragedy they could have prevented. The session draws the same lesson from Muslim ibn Aqil, the emissary Imam Husayn sent ahead to Kufa: he did not stand alone in that city for lack of supporters in principle. The elite of the time simply hesitated, each waiting for someone else to move first, until a single emissary faced an army that a hundred loyal people could have turned back. Clarification, the session argues, is a discipline, not a mood. It warns too against a subtler failure: airing internal disagreements irresponsibly, letting private disputes among the responsible spill into public confusion. What looks like transparency can, handled carelessly, function as distortion dressed in honest language. True clarification requires timing, insight, and endurance held together — not one virtue substituting for the others.
