When the Christian delegation of Najran could not be moved by debate, God revealed a final method of arbitration: mubahela, a mutual imprecation in which both sides pray earnestly for God's judgement to fall on whoever speaks falsehood. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, brought no army, only four people: Imam Ali, Sayyedah Fatimah, Imam Hasan, and Imam Husayn. The Grand Bishop of Najran took one look and warned his delegation to withdraw, certain these four could move a mountain by asking. That testimony was followed by a formal proclamation. At Ghadir Khumm, God commanded the Prophet to deliver a message so weighty that withholding it would nullify his entire mission. He raised the hand of Imam Ali and declared him mawla, master and guardian. Moments later came the verse announcing the religion was now complete: wilayah was not decoration on Islam, but the clasp holding the whole structure together. The third station is quieter: the 9th of Rabi al-Awwal, Eid al-Zahra, when grief over Karbala's memory gives way to gratitude for the Imamate just begun. The Qur'an commands believers to rejoice in God's mercy rather than what they accumulate, and this joy, the tradition teaches, is the joy of wilayah itself. Keeping the covenant alive daily, not merely commemorated yearly. ## Scripture > اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَمَتِّعْنِي بِهُدًى صَالِحٍ لَا أَسْتَبْدِلُ بِهِ، وَطَرِيقَةِ حَقٍّ لَا أَزِيغُ عَنْهَا، وَنِيَّةِ رُشْدٍ لَا أَشُكُّ فِيهَا، وَعَمِّرْنِي مَا كَانَ عُمُرِي بِذْلَةً فِي طَاعَتِكَ، فَإِذَا كَانَ عُمُرِي مَرْتَعاً لِلشَّيْطَانِ فَاقْبِضْنِي إِلَيْكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْبِقَ مَقْتُكَ إِلَيَّ، أَوْ يَسْتَحْكِمَ غَضَبُكَ عَلَيَّ > > O God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad's Household, give me to enjoy a sound guidance which I seek not to replace, a path of truth from which I swerve not, and an intention of right conduct in which I have no doubts!
