# Keeping God's Limits

Foundations, Part 3

A child only stays off the road because they trust the person who told them to — and this session argues the entire structure of Islamic law rises or falls on that same fact.

Having covered what it means to give God His due, the session turns to the second requirement of true servitude: keeping His limits. Before it lists a single rule, it asks a prior question — who is setting the limit, and do you trust them? A law from someone you love and respect gets kept; a law from someone you resent gets circumvented, however wise it is. Without that trust first in place, the session argues, no set of religious rules survives contact with real life.

That leads into a full recasting of how Islamic belief is usually taught. The traditional method separates the five Foundations of Belief — tawhid, divine justice, prophethood, imamah, and the Day of Judgement — from the ten Branches of Belief, the practical laws covering everything from prayer and fasting to disassociation from what displeases God, and teaches each in isolation. This session proposes a different shape entirely: a journey, with a destination and a goal, in which every other concept exists to get a person there.

Does a person follow God's law because they are forced to, or because they trust where it comes from?

What the evening covers

The trust test. Why a rule is only as strong as a person's trust in the one who set it — illustrated through a parent, a garden, and a public road.
Five Foundations, ten Branches. The traditional map of Islamic belief and practice, named and defined for the first time in this series.
The journey, not the checklist. Why this series reorganises belief around a destination and a goal, rather than teaching each concept in isolation.
Where justice fits. How prophethood, imamah and the Day of Judgement are folded into a single overarching concept: the justice of God.
