# Introduction

Fifty years was all it took for a people who loved the Prophet's grandsons to help kill one of them.

Both Sunni and Shia sources agree: Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn, peace be upon them, were declared by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, as the two masters of the youth of Paradise. Everyone knew it. It did not matter. Within a single lifetime after his passing, the ruling power that followed him openly mocked the very idea of revelation, and a community that recited his family's praises stood by while his grandson was cut down at Karbala.

This opening session traces that collapse to one neglected duty: tabyeen, clarification. Not a failure of love, but a failure of explanation — elites and scholars who let devotion curdle into decoration, who quoted the Prophet's household without ever walking their path. Imam Husayn's own sermon at Mina names this exactly: those who witness injustice and change nothing "by word or deed" have, in his words, adhered to the obedience of Satan. The pattern runs deeper — even at Imam Ali's funeral, people who had once stood beside the Prophet doubted, on hearing of his martyrdom, that he had ever prayed.
