Version 2.362.11
October 9, 2026Writing down a short interruption
- Behind the scenes: one of our machines stopped for a few minutes late on Thursday night. We have written down what happened, and a lesson about reading logs after a sudden stop, so that the next person to meet it does not lose time to it.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.10
October 8, 2026Trading a little speed for a lower bill
- Behind the scenes: the AI that drafts our Reflections and Vignettes now works under a lower power limit. It writes a little more slowly, and each piece takes noticeably less electricity to write.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.9
October 8, 2026A quieter test computer
- Behind the scenes: our Windows test computer no longer asks its privacy questions every time we reset it. The answers are now set once, and every one of them is “off”.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.8
October 8, 2026A safe place to test on Windows
- Behind the scenes: we set up a Windows computer for testing our tools the way they will be used, walled off so that it can reach the internet and nothing of ours, and we proved the wall from inside it.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.7
October 8, 2026Checking transcripts in more than one language
- Behind the scenes: we added a check that shows whether a transcript keeps up when a speaker moves between Farsi, Arabic and English: for example, whether a quotation comes out in its own language. It reports counts, not the words of a recording.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.6
October 8, 2026Two careful new helpers
- Behind the scenes: we added two tools for setting up a new web address and a new private connection. Each one checks everything before it starts, and puts things back by itself if any step does not come out exactly as expected.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.5
October 8, 2026A second lock on an inside door
- Behind the scenes: two of our tools talk to each other privately so that translations can quote the Qur'an exactly, and that private line now has a second lock, so only the one tool that should use it can reach it.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.4
October 8, 2026A key changed, carefully this time
- Behind the scenes: we replaced one of the keys that keeps our sites connected, and this time it went cleanly: the sites were away for about a minute. Our own pages now give out the new one.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.3
October 8, 2026A plan for room to grow
- Behind the scenes: we've written down how the place where we keep our files will move to a home with more room, so that it can repair itself if a file is ever damaged, and how it will be backed up before anything moves.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.2
October 8, 2026A little further along
- Behind the scenes: the home for the courier tool is a step further along, and our own notes now say so.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.1
October 8, 2026Groundwork for the courier
- Behind the scenes: we've laid the groundwork for the new tool that will help partner libraries send us their books, so it has a home to run in once it is ready.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.362.0
October 8, 2026One more thing we keep an eye on
- Behind the scenes: our status page now checks that the contact form on our studio's site can still send its mail, the same way it already checks one of our other tools. We also corrected a few lines in our own notes.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.9
October 8, 2026Each project keeps its own to-do list
- Behind the scenes: every one of our projects used to file its to-do list here. From today each project keeps its own, and work shared between projects stays here. Older items stay where they were filed and are finished there. We also corrected a few lines in our own notes that had fallen behind.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.8
October 7, 2026The right name in the footer
- The "Developed by" line at the foot of every page now gives the company's official name, TP Cloud Solutions Inc. We had been writing its web address in its place. The link goes where it always did.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.7
October 7, 2026A new mark in the footer
- The "Developed by" mark at the foot of every page now shows tpcloud.solutions' current mark, as its new site went live today.
- A shorter changelog page. The releases from 2.353 to 2.357 moved to their own page in the release archive. Every link to them still works.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.6
October 7, 2026A home for a new tool
- Behind the scenes: we've set up the home for a new tool that will help partner libraries send us their books, and moved its plan there.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.5
October 7, 2026Taking turns, fixed for one more case
- Behind the scenes: the tool our team uses to take turns making changes could get stuck in one unusual case, so that only a person could clear it. It now handles that case, and says clearly when it is being run as a test rather than for real.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.4
October 7, 2026A sister site, nearly ready to go live
- Behind the scenes: we've prepared, and rehearsed without changing anything, the switch that will point a sister site's address at its new home.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.3
October 7, 2026Making sure signing out always reaches every tool
- Behind the scenes: we've written down a precaution, and a check to run after any change to our network's settings, so that signing someone out of our tools cannot be quietly blocked.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.2
October 7, 2026Getting ready to measure transcription on real lessons
- Behind the scenes: we've prepared, and rehearsed without changing anything, the step that lets another of our tools send recordings to our transcription service under its own key, so that we can measure how well transcription handles real lessons.
- We also tightened two of the automatic checks that run on every change we make.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.1
October 7, 2026Planning how a partner could send us a large library
- A plan, not yet a feature. We've written down how a partner could send us a large collection of books over a connection that is slow and keeps dropping: a small app that picks up where it left off, with progress they can follow from their phone.
- Checked before it reaches the library. Everything that arrives would be checked, and only clean, complete files would go on to the library.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.361.0
October 7, 2026What we tested is what we ship
- Behind the scenes: a new version of the site is now the very build that was checked before it, given a version number, rather than a fresh build made again at release time. Each release checks that the two are the same before it goes out.
- Releases also hold up other maintenance for less time, because they wait for everything to be ready before they begin.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.360.1
October 7, 2026Ready for a new website of ours
- Behind the scenes: the step that will open a new website of ours to visitors is prepared and rehearsed. It checks everything it depends on first, proves the site works afterwards, and puts things back by itself if it does not.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.360.0
October 7, 2026Our status page watches the document store's mail
- For the team: the status page now shows whether the document store used for our written work can send its mail, and goes red if any part of that is not working, rather than trusting a summary.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.359.2
October 7, 2026Our status page checks the page readers themselves
- For the team: the status page now asks each of our scanned-page readers whether it is ready to work, rather than only whether the computer it runs on answers.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.359.1
October 7, 2026Signing out everywhere, written down for the people building it
- Documentation only. How signing out of every one of our tools at once will work is now part of our written design for sign-in, so each tool can be built to the same rules.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.359.0
October 7, 2026The fault behind the 6 October outage is fixed, and tested the way it happened
- The maintenance tool that kept some of our sites offline for a few minutes on 6 October is fixed. Before it is used again, it is tested against a practice copy of our setup, including the very step that went wrong. It checks its own work after every step, and puts everything back by itself if anything is not exactly as it should be.
- The same mistake is now refused wherever it could appear, in our tools and in the written instructions that go with them.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.358.3
October 6, 2026A maintenance tool that misbehaved is switched off until it is fixed
- Planned maintenance on the evening of 6 October took some of our sites offline for a few minutes longer than intended. The tool behind it has a fault, so it now refuses to run until the fault is fixed and tested, rather than relying on anyone remembering not to use it.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.358.2
October 6, 2026The address we keep for each visitor is now always the real one
- Every request our site sees now carries the visitor’s real address. The limits that protect the contact form, and the records we keep for security, both depend on it, so they can now be trusted to mean what they say.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.358.1
October 6, 2026The contact form keeps a daily limit for each sender, too
- Each sender now has a daily limit as well as an hourly one, so that no one sender can crowd everybody else out of the form. It belonged in the previous release and arrived a few minutes after it was put together.
- Nothing to do at your end.
Version 2.358.0
October 6, 2026Our contact form no longer asks another company whether you are a person
- The check that keeps spam out of our contact form now runs on our own site. Until today, sending us a message meant your browser first loaded a check from another company, which looked at details of your browser to decide whether you were human. Now your browser does a moment’s arithmetic instead — about a third of a second on an ordinary computer, a couple of seconds on an old one — and starts it as soon as you click into the form, so it is usually finished before you have finished typing. The check involves nobody but us, and it sets no cookies.
- We will be honest about the trade. A little arithmetic stops a careless robot, not a determined one, and the old check was harder to fool. We chose your privacy, and added other defences to make up the difference: a form sent faster than anyone could write it is turned away, so is one that fills in a field only a robot can see, and there is a limit on how many messages the form will take, from each sender and from everyone together.
- If the form cannot send your message, it says so and keeps your words. It never pretends to have sent something it has not. If you had the form open before this change, it will ask you to reload the page first.
- And after every release we now confirm the form’s check is working, rather than learning about it from a quiet inbox.
- Nothing to do at your end.
